The simple recipe to start with is no better than the wonderful vanilla ice cream that incorporates 1 pint of heavy double cream, 2 ounces of castor sugar, a cup of milk and 1 vanilla pod. Blend milk and sugar in a bowl until sugar dissolves. Stir in heavy cream and extract from vanilla pod scored into half to the sugar mixture. Gently mix everything. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for three hours. When it is ready to freeze, transfer the mixture to your ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
